Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast

Cream Chipped Beef Recipe

  • 6 oz. jar sliced dried beef, rinsed in cold water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 1/2 c. milk (whole works best)
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
  • 4-6 slices toast (either buttered or plain); or waffles if preferred


Slice or shred beef into small pieces. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Saute onion until tender. Sprinkle in flour, stirring constantly until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes. Gradually stir in milk and cook 5 to 8 more minutes, till sauce is thick. Add beef. Salt and pepper to taste. Add parsley. Remove from heat. Serve on toast or waffles.
