Kitchen Transformed from Tired to Tremendous!

By refacing their cabinets and adding a new countertop, transforming a timeworn tired kitchen (below) to an elegant showplace (above) was easy for Mr. and Mrs. Matthew A. in Whitehouse Station, Hunterdon County, NJ.  The couple visited the Kitchen Magic website and easily arranged a visit from one of our expert designers.

Time had dulled the previous cabinetry, and years of wear had scuffed the finish. In addition, there was not enough storage. A third problem is that the previous design had put the double oven right next to the couple’s built-in wine rack; not the ideal storage for fine wines.

The cabinets were refaced with Breckenridge Cathedral doors in antique white/walnut glaze. Cabinetry was added to the other side of the half-wall (above, bottom), as was a dedicated wine refrigerator. The built-in wine rack was replaced by open shelving, and the new cabinets sported beautiful glass inserts with convenient in-cabinet lighting to display the couple’s porcelain china collection. The half wall received a matching furniture molding and wainscoting to blend with the cabinet transformation.

The island was dignified with furniture-look stiles, and formal crown molding topped the wall cabinets. The countertops were replaced with yellow tiger granite countertops with an s-shaped ogee edge routed in.
