Keeping Your New Kitchen Shiny

Written by Kitchen Magic | Apr 13, 2011

Got chrome faucets and stainless steel sinks and appliances? Here are a few tips to keep them sparkling.

Rubbing alcohol on a cloth will remove water spots from stainless steel sinks. A bit of lighter fluid on a cloth will remove rust spots. Club soda will also shine up stainless steel.

Chrome faucets can be kept shiny by rubbing them with a fabric softener dryer sheet. A used lemon will also brighten a chrome faucet, as will rubbing alcohol on a cloth. (Rubbing alcohol also will kill germs.)

Another way to shine up stainless steel and chrome is to use dry baking soda and a moist cloth. Rub the sink in the direction of the grain.

For stainless steel appliances, a tiny bit of baby oil on a paper towel will remove streaks, as well vinegar on a damp cloth. A citrus based furniture polish will help resist fingerprints and stains.
