This simply sweet Coffee Crunch Cake is an easy overnight dessert to bring to Holiday parties, and the perfect make-ahead breakfast for Christmas Day!
Ingredients:
Cake
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
Topping
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Directions:
Grease and flour 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Sift flour and measure. Sift baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt together. Cream the butter, brown sugar and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition; begin and end with flour. Spread in baking pan.
Combine topping ingredients and mix well. Sprinkle over batter. Refrigerate eight hours or over night.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.
